The 3rd International Symposium for Advanced Gel Materials & Soft Matters was held in SUST

The 3rd International Symposium for Advanced Gel Materials & Soft Matters (ISAGMSM) was held in Shaanxi University of Science and Technology from June 14th to 17th. The conference aims to build a global academic exchange platform for advanced gel materials, sponsored by the China Materials Research Society Polymer Materials and Engineering Branch, undertaken by Shaanxi University, Zhuhai Guojia New Materials Co., Ltd., Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhejiang Universities, Tianjin University of Technology and other well-known universities and institutions of higher education domestic and abroad. The conference invited 7 top scientists from Japan, the United States, Hungary, China and other countries to make a special conference report, and 22 outstanding researchers from Japan, South Korea, France, and Hong Kong, China, Macao and other countries and regions. More than 200 domestic and foreign experts and scholars attended the meeting.

The chairman of the conference was Professor Y. Osada of the Japanese Institute of Physical Chemistry, Professor GONG Jianping of Hokkaido University of Japan, and Professor MA Jianzhong of the University of Shaanxi University. The vice chairman was Professor XU Jian of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor CHEN Yongmei of the Shaanxi University of Science and Technology.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, LAN Xinzhe, deputy director of the Science and Technology Department of Shaanxi Province, delivered a speech. He pointed out that he hopes to promote innovation through scientific research, promote the transformation of scientific research achievements, and promote the development of science and technology talents and the development of science and technology industry in Xi'an.

In the speech, Professor MA Jianzhong expressed his congratulations on the convening of the conference and expressed warm welcome to all the experts, scholars and friends from all over the world. He briefly introduced the basic situation of the university and the achievements in discipline construction and scientific research in recent years. At the same time, he pointed out that in recent years, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, while inheriting the characteristics of traditional light industry, focused on promoting the transformation from traditional light industry to new light industry. He hoped through this meeting, professors can further deepen their understanding of the school, further deepen mutual cooperation and exchanges, and achieve cooperation and mutual benefit.

During the conference, experts and scholars carried out rich and exciting conferences on topics such as “hydrogel”, “organic gel”, “aerogel and porous materials”, “composite gel materials” and “soft materials and smart materials”. There were 51 oral presentations, and at the same time, 67 exhibitions were arranged for the presentation. Participants discussed the latest academic ideas and academic developments in the field, and how to promote innovation through scientific research and promote the transformation of scientific research results. The atmosphere of the meeting was harmonious, and everyone discussed and expressed their opinions on various academic issues. The holding of this conference has played an active role in promoting the exchange of experts and scholars in the field of gel materials and soft matters and enhancing the level of innovation research. It is conducive to improving the academic status of our school and related majors in the international arena through teachers and students. The academic exchange activities of well-known international scholars have further promoted international scientific and technological cooperation and played an important role in promoting the comprehensive level of our university.

The 4th International Symposium for Advanced Gel Materials & Soft Matters will be held in Hangzhou, China in 2021.
