On June 29th, Global Ranking of Academic Subjects released the “2020 ranking of world-class subjects”. Our university's Chemical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering (according to the journal subjects, mainly covering our university's Materials Science and Engineering, Bioresources Technology and Engineering and other subjects) have been on the list, ranks 4th in provincial universities.

The Chemical Engineering has entered the list for the first time, with a total score of 171.2, a global ranking of 201-300, and a national ranking of 66-89. The ranking of the Metallurgical Engineering has been steadily rising, with a total score of 152.7 (a score of 137.4 in 2019), a global ranking of 151-200, and a national ranking of 37-59.

The 2020 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects covers 54 subjects, covering the five major fields of science, engineering, life sciences, medicine and social sciences. Global Ranking of Academic Subjects is for universities with a certain number of papers published in specific subjects between 2014 and 2018. A total of more than 1,800 colleges and universities from 90 countries and regions around the world are on the list.

The 2020 ranking index system has partially adjusted the previous "total number of papers" to "number of important journal papers". The ranking index pays more attention to the comparative analysis of internationally comparable indexes, sets different index weight coefficients for different subjects, and its index definition and statistical methods are more refined, which can reflect the international competitiveness of the subject to a certain extent.

In recent years, SUST's various undertakings have developed vigorously, and its subject's characteristics and social reputation have improved significantly. In 2018, the school was shortlisted as the "domestic first-class university construction university" in Shaanxi Province, and the Bioresources Technology and Engineering subjects were selected as the "domestic first-class university construction university" construction subject; Materials Science and Chemistry subjects successively entered the top 1% of the ESI global ranking; natural index ranking among the global TOP 500 and national TOP 100.
