Professor SHEN Zexiang from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, performed for SUST's "Frontier Science Forum"

On the afternoon of July 17th, at the invitation of the College of Materials Science and Engineering of SUST, Professor SHEN Zexiang from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore performed as a guest at "Frontier Science Forum" and gave a report entitled "Oligomer 2D Material Structure Regulation and Application". The report took a new form of online and offline hybrids. The meeting was hosted by ZHU Jianfeng, Dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering. Teachers, graduate students and undergraduates of the College of Materials Science and Technology participated in this academic report. This meeting also attracted online participators from other universities in China, which made a good social influence.
Professor SHEN Zexiang took the form of live video broadcast, started the report from basic scientific principles, and introduced the research team’s recent microstructure design of grapheme, molybdenum sulfide and other two-dimensional Nano-materials, the use of Raman/photoluminescence and imaging technology based on the various applications of Nano-devices of the two-dimensional materials. Also, the report has revealed the key information of the electronic structure, optical properties, phonon structure, defects, doping and stacking sequence of two-dimensional materials, and has revealed the new micro-Nano devices in PN junctions, transistors, solar cells and new mechanisms in applications such as LEDs. Professor SHEN Zexiang also introduced the large-scale application progress of new materials obtained by the research group based on long-term basic materials research, including the industrial cooperation with China Aerospace, Israel Elbit and other institutions. He also conducted in-depth online and offline exchanges and discussions with teachers and students on the academic and industrial issues of two-dimensional materials research, and discussed the possibility of various forms of cooperation between his team and teachers and students of SUST in the future.
SHEN Zexiang, Professor of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, the highly cited scientist in the world, current Director of Advanced Photonics Technology Center, Honorary Professor of Moscow University, Advisor of Nanyang Technological University Board of Directors, Director of Physics Group of NTU Research Fund Committee, and Member of NTU Academic Committee; Tan Kah Kee International Society Member, founding president of the Singapore Alumni Association of Jilin University, and an overseas review expert of the "Changjiang Scholar" talent program of the Ministry of Education. SHEN Zexiang served as a director of the Singapore Physics Society of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, a director of the Singapore Institute of Materials, a member of the International Physical Olympic Committee, chairman of the Singapore Olympic Physics Competition, and chairman of the Singapore-China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Exchange (SCAAST). SHEN Zexiang is also the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council Expert of the Expert Advisory Committee, member of the Singapore-China Friendship Association. He was also invited to recommend candidates for the Nobel Prize in Physics and Japan. In recent years, SHEN Zexiang's team has focused on the study of grapheme nanostructures, growth and photoelectric properties. Published more than 500 academic papers in journals such as Nature, Nature Physics, Nature Communication, JACS, Advanced materials, with over 40,000 citations (Web of Science), H-index = 100. He has presided over more than 10 national-level projects in Singapore, and received a total of more than 20 million Singapore dollars in scientific research funding.
