Speaker profile:
Dr. Charles is an expert in organic and biological mass spectrometry at the Australian National University. He received his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Organic Chemistry from the Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Western Australia in November 1977, and his Master of Science in Clinical Biochemistry from the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Western Australia in November 1979, September 1986. Received a Ph.D. in Plant Cell Biology from the Australian National University Institute of Biological Sciences. Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Utah from 1986 to 1987, postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern from 1987 to 1989, national researcher at the Australian National University from 1989 to 1993, and official analyst and drug assessor of the Australian Drug Administration from 1993 to 1996, 1996 Until 2015, he was a senior scientist and director of the Mass Spectrometry Center of the Australian National University Biology Institute. Since 2015, he has been a researcher at the Australian National University Biology Institute. Dr. Charles is a member of the American Mass Spectrometry Society and the Australian-New Zealand Mass Spectrometry Society. Since 2009, he has served as Vice President of the Australian-New Zealand Mass Spectrometry Society.
