Speaker profile:

Professor Alessandro Giua graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States. He is currently a professor at the University of Cagliari, Italy, a professor at Xidian University, and a Fellow at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE Fellow). In 2012, he was selected as one of the first batch of “Thousand Talents Program” foreign projects in China. In 2013, he was awarded the title of “National Specialized Expert” by the Central Organization Department and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and won the “Chinese Government Friendship Award” in 2017.

Professor Giua has long been engaged in the fields of automation science, control theory and engineering, computer science and other related fields. He is a world-renowned expert in the field of information science and automatic control. The main research fields include automatic control, optimization and fault diagnosis of discrete event systems, hybrid systems, complex systems, etc., and their research work has received extensive attention and recognition from peers around the world. Professor Giua has presided over several European FP7 projects and European multinational cooperation projects, with a total project cost of more than 2,700,000 euros. Professor Giua is currently a member of the International Federation of Automatic Controls IFAC Publishing Committee, a member of the IEEE CSS Executive Committee, the President of the International Conference CDC 2016 General Assembly and the Chair of the WODES 2016 Program Committee, and the international journal Nonlinear Analysis: Hybrid Systems ( Top Journal) Editor, Automation and Control Top Journal IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control Senior Editor, Editor of Discrete Event Dynamic Systems. Professor Giua published 85 papers in the mainstream international journals such as IEEE Transactions and other majors, and published more than 170 papers in international conferences, 17 editorial monographs and collections, and published 2 monographs.
