Welcome Meeting for The class of 2018 Spring Semester

On April 3^rdafternoon, SUST held the welcome meeting for 2018 spring semester international students. The vice director of OICE, Xue Chaohua, attended the meeting and delivered a welcome speech. The meeting was moderated by the assistant of director Liu Yufan.

Xue Chaohua expressed his welcome to the international students which form 19 countries. He introduced SUST’s characteristics and the achievements in recent years. He also put forward some requirements to the international students. First, adapt to SUST as soon as possible and study hard. Second, learn the Chinese language and majors well, help to spread Chinese culture. Third, observe more and think more, be positive in uni activities. Finally, he gave his good wishes to all the international students.

Kang He, representativeof teachers, who is from College of Arts and Science, gave the speech to the international students. He hoped that students could strengthen the interest on Chinese learning, break through the difficulties of learning and receive their own success.

Santino, representative of international students who comes from Syria， expressed his expectation of learning in China and his love of SUST. He encouraged students to be positive in participating activities, making Chinese friends, and understanding Chinese culture.

In order to help the international students to overcome cultural differences and integrate into uni life. Staff from OICE explained relevant policies and regulations of the state on the management of overseas students. They also introduced the attentions in studying in SUST, including mental health, academic requirements, etc,.

The class of 2018 international students arenot only students from Europe and America, but also from countries along“The Road and Belt Initiative”routes, like Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Armenia, Syria and India. The English welcome meeting strengthened the relationship between students and their teachers. Under the guidance of the concept of opening, SUST insist on International Education. Cultivating international students will help SUST to improve its international influence rapidly.
