In order to adapt to the current international boom in the field of artificial intelligence, to play the professional characteristics of our university and to actively serve the local regional economic development, on the morning of April 18, the inaugural meeting of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the AI institute) was officially held. President MA Jianzhong and Vice President WANG Haiyan attended the meeting. The Science and Technology Department, the Frontier Institute, and the relevant college leaders and subject experts attended the meeting also. The meeting was presided over by Vice President HUANG Jianfeng.

In his speech, MA Jianzhong elaborated on the background of the establishment of the AI institute. He pointed out that the research institute should be based on artificial intelligence research and industry, find the right position, work hard, and strive to take up the development of new disciplines and new professional incubators, promote the important forces of scientific research and social services, and promote the leaping development of our school. He also put forward three hopes: first, it is necessary to bring together all aspects of the school to jointly build a research institute; second, it is necessary to promote cross-border development and accelerate the promotion of research and industrialization cooperation between schools and schools, and between schools and enterprises; third, the unique advantages combine the strength of our school's light industry disciplines with artificial intelligence to serve the society, and are committed to building the institute into a research institute with distinctive features, strong strength and high display.

HUANG Jianfeng read the decision of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology on the establishment of artificial intelligence research institute: WANG Haiyan is the dean of the institute, Experts from the Frontier Science and Technology Transfer Research Institute, the School of Electronic Information and Artificial Intelligence, the School of Electrical and Control Engineering, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the College of Arts and Sciences, and materials are members of the Institute.

WANG Haiyan made a statement as the newly established president of the institute. He said that the establishment of the institute has seized the opportunity of international and domestic artificial intelligence development, based on the strength of our school's actual and superior disciplines, and condensed the characteristic research direction; AI institute will focus on pooling multiple resources, vigorously developing interdisciplinary and strengthening team and platform construction. Also, they will promote the development of interdisciplinary research in artificial intelligence and contribute to the improvement of the school's core competitiveness in this field.

On behalf of the school's scientific research management department, HUANG Jianfeng will create a good environment and atmosphere from the coordination of scientific research resources, scientific research project planning and research, scientific research team construction and base platform construction, and fully support the research and construction of the institute.

Under the background of the establishment of the School of Electrical and Control Engineering and the School of Electronic Information and Artificial Intelligence, and the participation in the joint laboratory of artificial intelligence in Shaanxi Province, our school has determined the inclusion of big data and intelligent sensing, intelligent cognition. The main research directions of technology, light industry intelligent manufacturing and equipment will provide a solid force for technology research and development, talent cultivation and reserve in this field.
