On April 15th, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of a Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution - Ulster College of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (China Shaanxi University of Science and Technology and the University of Ulster, UK). This is our university's big breakthrough due to the concept of opening education, strengthening foreign cooperation and exchanges, bringing together high-quality educational resources, enhancing the competitiveness of running schools, and promoting the process of internationalization.

In 2016, SUST began to prepare for Chinese-foreign cooperatively – run school. In April 2017, our university officially launched the application, which was reviewed by the provincial expert group, the evaluation of the Ministry of Education's correspondence experts and the evaluation of the expert group. Chinese-foreign cooperatively – run school agreement negotiation, defense report, Institutional planning and degree negotiation, etc. have all been won by the school leaders, which lasted for three years.

The Ulster College of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology is the Chinese-foreign cooperatively – run school with the longest enrollment period and the largest scale in our province. It also enables our school to be the third engineering university with a degree of both sides directly approved by the Ministry of Education after Xi'an Jiaotong University and Northwestern Polytechnic University. It will surely promote the internationalization of Shaanxi universities.

Ulster College of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology will carry out three undergraduate programs in mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, computer science and technology, and industrial design. Each major enrolls 100 students each year, with a total college size of 1,200. In 2019, the first batch of undergraduate students will be enrolled and included in the national general higher education enrollment plan. At the same time, according to the national college admission policy, students who meet the requirements of the undergraduate training program can obtain the bachelor's degrees from both SUST and University of Ulster, UK.

Ulster College of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology will uphold the tenet of “Introducing quality education resources and improving the quality of cooperation”, create a high-quality faculty, build an international training system, and promote the construction of “first-class professional”. Our goal is to cultivate a group of international talents with international vision, international rules, professional basic knowledge and professional skills, strong competitiveness, high comprehensive quality, capable of transnational learning and global career choice.

The joint operation of Ulster College with the University of Ulster is a concrete implementation of the national opening-up policy for the new era. It is the mission of the international exchange and cooperation function of the university, and it is the history of the school's "three pioneering and two relocations". A major initiative will also help our school to catch up with and surpass, promote the construction of “double first-class” and accelerate the development of our university to the development goals of high-level teaching and research universities with distinctive characteristics.
