Recently, the research result "Professor O3-Type Layered Ni-Rich Oxide: A High-Capacity and Superior-Rate Cathode for Sodium-Ion Batteries" accomplished by associate professor YANG Jun of the College of Materials was adopted as a cover paper by the famous international journal "Small" (IF = 10.856). In the field of large-scale energy storage, sodium ion batteries are the most efficient and economical energy storage device to replace lithium ion batteries. And the development of high-capacity, high-rate sodium ion battery cathode materials has always been an important subject in the field of energy storage battery research. Associate professor YANG Jun from the College of Materials Science and Engineering and his team used an electrochemical ion exchange strategy to obtain a high-capacity, high-rate O3 layered high nickel-sodium ion battery cathode material (Na0.75Ni0.82Co0.12Mn0.06O2). The phase transition process of materials, the mechanism of charge compensation, the kinetics of ion transport, and the performance of batteries are systematically studied. This work can provide new ideas for the design of high-performance rechargeable batteries.
The research result was published in "Small" (IF = 10.856), and was selected as cover paper. YANG Jun was the first / corresponding author, and 2017 graduate student TANG Manjing was the second author. The research work has been funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Shaanxi Provincial Hundred Talents Program, and the Shaanxi University of Science and Technology Young Talents Project, and has also received strong support from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology and the College of Materials Science and Engineering.
